Add a new workstation
Learn how to add a new workstation in the Phasio manufacturing platform
Workstations represent individual steps in your manufacturing workflow—from production machines and manual processes to quality control checkpoints. Creating workstations enables you to build comprehensive workflows that guide parts through your production floor, while maintaining full visibility and control over the manufacturing process.
Add a new workstation
- Go to Workstations from the main sidebar.
- Click + in the top-right corner of the workstation management screen.
This opens the Production Step Creation modal:
-
Status Name
- Provide a descriptive name that clearly identifies the production step, machine, or process this workstation represents.
- Example names: File Preparation, Printing, Dyeing, MJF, FDM, Mold Making, Quality Control.
-
Step Type
Choose from three workstation types:
- Basic: Parts must be moved manually from one workstation to the next (individually or in bulk).
- Upload 3MF: Parts can be batch-progressed by uploading .3mf or .gcode files.
- Download Parts: Parts are batch-progressed by downloading them to a local machine for offline processing.
-
View Type
Determine how production is tracked:
- Individual Parts: Track and display each part separately.
- Groups: Track parts in grouped units using consolidated group names.
-
Build Constraint
Define how parts are grouped when entering this workstation:
- None: All parts are treated uniformly regardless of specifications.
- Material: Parts are grouped by material type.
- Material & Colour: Parts are grouped by both material and color.
-
Click Save to create the workstation and make it available for workflow integration.
The new workstation will appear at the start of your production sequence and can be immediately assigned to manufacturing processes or post-processing operations. This ensures customer orders are automatically routed through the correct production steps according to the configured workflow.
