Workflow implementation & examples
Configure process and post-processing workflows, and understand how each production run's routing is assigned at work-order creation.
By configuring your workflows, you set the exact sequence of production steps that each part will progress through. In Phasio, you can assign specific operations to each manufacturing process and post-processing option. This setup allows the system to automatically generate and apply the correct workflow to each part as it progresses through production.
How automatic workflow assignment works
When a work order is created, Phasio determines its routing one of two ways:
- Default routing template — if a routing template is designated as the default on the part, that template is applied to the new work order as a snapshot. 👉 Production routing overview
- Derived from process configuration — if no default template is designated, the routing is derived fresh from the current process configuration at the moment the work order is created. Any operation you add to the process is picked up automatically by future runs — no edits to individual parts required.
Each work order carries its own independent routing snapshot and can be customized for that run without affecting other work orders or the part’s templates.
